Has Political Correctness Gone To Far

The House Judiciary Committee hearings held, Thursday, May 20, 2008, on the rising prices of gas at the pump, heard a surprising comment that got news coverage (for a change), although there wasn't very much said about it. Have we, as a country, become so politically correct that the word "Socialize" (nationalized, government operated) our PRIVATE industry has become acceptable? The representative from the 35th District of California, Ms. Maxine Waters, D-Cal. , Suggested to oil industry representatives, that the American oil industry should be socialized--pause--should be nationalized. Ms. Waters went on to say this was an "extreme step but one that might be necessary."

These words have been spoken in the House before, to the "SHAME" of the people who elected these representatives or to the people who ran for office, (Senate and House) who are supposed to be representing the people of a FREE AND DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT not a "Socialists Government." Subscribing to the socialist way of thinking does not mean that you can't participate in our system of government but the person or persons should be up front and admit they are a "socialist."

As for the "GAS" prices, anyone who is old enough or "who was listening," in the 70's-80's, knows that the prices are exactly where CONGRESS wanted them. Then--Now? SO you want to know "WHY" they (Congress) have not really done anything on this issue yet. The only thing that "WE THE PEOPLE" can do is to listen to "WHAT THE POLITICIANS" and want to be politicians' say, then be sure NOT to elect them because once in the office it is VERY, VERY, VERY HARD (this cannot be emphasized too much) to remove them. Easy to elect them, Hard to remove them. Listen to what they say, gather information on them, demand that the news organizations report some of these "not very important" statements that are said.

The statement mentioned above was reported on cable tv news and, to their credit, The New York Times (Business Section) on Friday the 23rd, to mention a few here. The film clip has been shown a couple of times but I have not been able to find it (anywhere).

Leave a comment and tell your friends, enemies, all who agree or disagree. I DO NOT do this for money. NO SPONSORS, and it is time consuming. It will be worth it if I hear decent and honest news reporting on "Questionable Politician."
